For the pre-operative preparation of the surgical field and irrigation of the ocular surface. To be applied topically around the eyes prior to surgery. Do not use: in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients; if under one month of age; simultaneously with eye drops containing mercurial preservatives; during pregnancy and lactation or administer via intra-ocular or peri-ocular injection. Utilise only for pre-procedural antisepsis and restrict to cutaneous-conjunctival surface only. Repeated applications may result in or aggravate tear film abnormalities. Flush thoroughly with sterile saline solution if left in contact with conjunctiva and conjunctival sacs for two minutes. Use with caution in all ocular conditions that may promote systemic absorption, especially in infants under 30 months. Cross reactions with iodinated contrast agents have been reported. The bottle is not sterile if packaging is damaged. Side effects include hypersensitivity including anaphylactic reactions.
